Short Biography
Prof. Dr. Esra Yancar Demir was born in 1977. She completed her undergraduate education at Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Medicine (2000) and her medical specialization in Psychiatry at Gazi University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Mental Health and Diseases (2006). Her thesis was on "Temperament characteristics in patients with major depression."
In her academic career, she served as Assistant Professor (2012-2016) and Associate Professor (2016-2018) at Ordu University Faculty of Medicine. Between 2021-2022, she worked as an Associate Professor at International Final University and İstinye University, and later as a Professor at Istanbul Aydın University. She served as Head of Department at Avrasya University and currently works as a Professor and Head of the Psychology Department at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, Cyprus Aydın University. She also provides supervision in the Schema Therapy Master's Program at Rumeli University.
Her clinical interests include mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapies (CBT, Schema Therapy, EMDR, Dynamic Psychotherapies). Dr. Yancar Demir has over 50 national and international scientific publications, book chapters, and presentations, and is a member of numerous professional organizations. She is an ISST-certified Schema Therapy Supervisor and an accredited CBT therapist (European/American approval).
