Short Biography
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Funda Karaman completed her undergraduate education in the Nursing Department of Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University School of Health in 2006, her master’s degree in Public Health Nursing at the Institute of Health Sciences of Istanbul University in 2009, and her PhD in Nursing at the Institute of Health Sciences of Marmara University in 2017.
Beginning her professional career as a clinical nurse, Karaman worked as a VIP service nurse at Istanbul Şişli Memorial Hospital between 2006 and 2008, and as a charge nurse in the Cardiovascular Surgery Intensive Care Unit at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Health Practice and Research Hospital between 2008 and 2014.
She started her academic career in 2014 as a Lecturer in the Nursing Department at Istanbul Gelişim University, where she served as an Assistant Professor between 2018 and 2024. During the same period, she held the position of Head of the English Nursing Department from 2018 to 2024. In the 2024–2025 academic year, she worked as an Assistant Professor in the Nursing Department at Biruni University, and since 2025, she has been serving as the Head of the English Nursing Department at the Faculty of Health Sciences, Cyprus Aydın University.
She has published numerous articles in national and international peer-reviewed journals and has authored books and book chapters. In addition, she holds two patents within the scope of utility models. Her academic interests and teaching areas include Fundamentals of Nursing, Intensive Care Nursing, Diabetes Nursing, Ethics in Nursing, Rehabilitation Nursing, Health Assessment, and Geriatric Nursing.
